Sustainability as a Driver for Technological Innovation
Laser-induced graphene (LIG) and transparent oxide electronics exemplify how sustainability can act as a catalyst for technological innovation. LIG enables the rapid, low-energy, digital fabrication of conductive circuits directly onto biodegradable substrates such as paper or cork, significantly reducing reliance on scarce metals. In parallel, transparent electronics based on amorphous oxide semiconductors allow high-performance devices to be processed at low temperatures, making them compatible with renewable, flexible, and lightweight materials. Together, these technologies demonstrate that advanced, efficient, and eco-responsible electronic systems are not only possible, but essential for a circular and sustainable technological future.
