Context

In energy sector industrial environments, many areas are classified as ATEX zones due to flammable gases, vapors, or dust. Conventional electronics, like phones and tablets, cannot be used safely. Current ATEX-certified devices are expensive, have limited features, and slower update cycles, hindering field digitalization and operational efficiency.

Opportunity

Design ATEX-certified cases or enclosures that allow standard phones and tablets to be safely used in Zone I and II areas. These cases should protect devices without compromising functionality, connectivity, or ergonomics, enabling safe digital operations on site.

What are we looking for

Innovative designs and materials to adapt commercial devices (e.g., iPhones, iPads, Android tablets) for ATEX environments. Solutions must meet regulations, maintain key functions (camera, touchscreen, wireless), and support major device models. Modularity, ease of maintenance, and industrial scalability are valued.
