METHOD TO PRODUCE NANOPOROUS COATINGS IN OPEN AIR CONDITIONS
EP3023513
The inventors of the present invention have developed a one-step method for the production of nanoporous and ultra-high nanoporous metallic and/or metal oxide coatings on substrates under ambient conditions by means of laser radiation application, said method comprising: - providing a metallic target (3) and a substrate (4) near each other; - focussing a laser beam (1) on the metallic target so as to generate a plasma plume that leads to the formation of metallic and/or metal oxide species, so that said species are deposited on the substrate.

This method allows to obtain ultra-high nanoporous coatings without the need of vacuum preconditioning of the atmosphere nor a dedicated reaction chamber.
The coatings obtained contain a myriad of nanoporous and nanoparticles that increase the surface reactivity of a given substrate.
The method may be carried out with both continuous wave and pulsed lasers.
