The present invention discloses a compact dual-band antenna for transmitting and receiving VHF and UHF signals under weight and volume restrictions that can be used for communications and video in unmanned aircraft (UAS), ground or surface systems. An omnidirectional antenna of the printed monopole type modifies the patch, as well as comprising an internal matching network, with a very small electrical size in relation to the lower operating frequency and dual band matching. The embodiment presented as an example of use comprises installation on the tail of a Class I Mini UAS, a band centred on 419 MHz with a relative bandwidth of 5% for telecommands between the ground station and the UAS, and a band centred on 2.5 GHz with a relative bandwidth of 40% for video transmission to the ground station. The invention enables strict weight, volume and coverage restrictions to be met.
