Sustainable Development Goal:
Applications

Our design uses LiFi in downlink and RF backscatter in uplink. It introduces a modulation scheme for the downlink LiFi transmitter, which is received and mixed by the IoT tag with the input RF carrier from the environment in order to transmit data with uplink RF backscatter signals. This approach results in consumption of the IoT tags in the order of few microWatts. For comparison, WiFi consumes hundreds of milliWatts.
