The present invention relates to a system and method for the comparison of fingerprints independent of the type of minutia descriptor. The system is effective in the verification of fingerprints and fingerprints, as well as in the identification of fingerprints and fingerprints. La ventaja de la presente invención, es un sistema y método para comparar huellas dactilares y múltiples racimos basados en minucias que coinciden con palmerales, a diferencia de otras soluciones propuestas a nivel internacional, este método permite comparar con un alto grado de eficiencia/eficacia las huellas dactilares y los palmerales, tanto para identificar impresiones latentes, como para la verificación de huellas dactilares. Otra de la ventaja de este método sobre las soluciones existentes es que se puede utilizar con cualquier minucia descriptoras lo que permite su aplicación en cualquier contexto. Por ejemplo, para aplicaciones en arquitecturas de hardware ligero, se pueden utilizar pares o tríos de minucias mientras que en aplicaciones de mayor potencia de cálculo se pueden utilizar descriptores que combinan información más minucias y otras características como la orientación de la imagen y la frecuencia de la imagen.
