Method for the production of superhydrophilic and superhydrophobic surfaces. The present invention describes a method for the production of superhydrophilic and superhydrophobic surfaces based on the modification of the wettability of the original surface by means of the action of a laser beam. The surfaces generated by said method are also object of this invention.

Applications

The method of the present invention uses long pulses of laser, in the microsecond or nanosecond range, as a tool to develop both superhydrophilic and superhydrophobic surfaces on a variety of different materials. <p> The results are obtained with relatively high processing speeds and in a single step, without the need for coatings to chemically alter the surface beyond the effects of the treatment itself. <p> This improves the economic viability of this type of treatment on an industrial scale compared to other methods.
