A method for mitigating the visual impact of an infrastructure work, in which, based on a digital model of the terrain (MDT), on a geometric representation of the visual intrusion (IV) caused by an infrastructure work in a zone of observation, on a geometric representation of said zone of observation (PV) from which said visual intrusion (IV) is viewed, and on a height H of a possible mitigation barrier to be erected, the following steps are carried out: a surface (Sv) of the geometric location of the visual rays traced from said zone of observation (PV) as far as said geometric representation of the visual intrusion (IV) is calculated digitally; a surface (So) displaced from said digital terrain model (MDT) by a distance defined by said height H is calculated digitally; all the intersection curves (INT) of both surfaces (Sv, So) are located; in the whole surface covered by said intersection curves (INT), the region(s) in which said displaced surface (So) is above said surface of the geometric position of the visual rays (Sv) is/are delimited, said region(s) being the zones where the visual impact of said infrastructure work can be mitigated with barriers of height H.
