DEVICE AND PROCEDURE FOR RADIOMETRIC CALIBRATION OF CAMERAS IN THE THERMAL INFRARED
ES2926423
This is an automatic radiometric calibration system for thermal infrared cameras, which is the range used for remote, non-contact temperature measurement. Cameras with thermal infrared sensors receive radiation emitted by objects within this wavelength range (7-14 μm). Higher levels of radiation result in a stronger signal received by the sensor, and therefore a higher digital value stored in the camera. Radiometric calibration converts the digital values of the signal received by the camera into temperature values. This calibration depends on both the temperature of the objects being measured and the camera's operating temperature.
The invention can be applied to any thermal infrared camera whose operation and acquisition control can be performed from a computer via USB connection. It is of particular interest to cameras with low-precision radiometric calibration provided by the manufacturer, and to cameras that require calibration over time. The invention is also of special interest to cameras used for absolute temperature measurements that require high precision and therefore calibration before each use.
