Thermoformed films and packaging have been developed using 100% banana peel, without the addition of any other component, with a high antioxidant capacity. Likewise, films based on cassava starch and banana peel have been developed with similar antioxidant capacity. The packaging materials are compostable and biodegradable, and can be used to pack different materials with low moisture content. The phenolic content of the films and their antioxidant activity make them present bioactive properties that increase the added value of the product by enhancing the preservation of the product to be packaged.
