This is a new process for obtaining membrane electrodes (MEA) that are used in fuel cells and electrolyzers. These MEAs constitute the real core of these devices. The membranes covered by the patent are made with polymeric materials and new generation catalytic elements, with excellent performance, long stability, reliability and durability, and low cost. They do not contain precious metals as catalysts and do not use other catalysts or proprietary base polymers. They have equivalent performance and performance to current ones using commercial Nafion® membranes and Pt catalyst or other precious metals, but at a significantly lower cost (about 50% of the current cost).

Sustainable Development Goal:
Applications

- Reduced process costs due to the use of non-noble metals and non-perfluorinated organic polymers. - Improved catalyst activity and quality, making it stable over time. - Reduction of the process steps, since the hydration step required in the use of perfluorinated polymers is eliminated.
