The invention relates to an optical signal producing system comprising a slave laser (11, 21) and at least two master lasers (12, 13, 22, 23), said at least two master lasers (12, 13, 22, 23) being designed to excite said slave laser (11, 21). The slave laser (11, 21) is a multimode laser, the system being designed such that said at least two master lasers (12, 13, 22, 23) excite at least two modes of said multimode laser (11, 21), obtaining a signal that has a frequency in the range from microwave frequencies to tens of terahertz.
