The present invention relates to a novel material consisting of a hydrogel, obtained by photopolymerization of specific monomers, with application in soft robotics. The present invention also relates to a modular system comprising the hydrogel, as well as the method for assembling and disassembling said modular system.
A soft connection mechanism, unlike existing rigid mechanisms. Simple assembly, requiring no screws or other anchoring elements; contact alone allows assembly. It withstands high loads, unlike other similar contact-based adhesion mechanisms such as those based on magnets. It does not require external power like heat-activated or electro-adhesive adhesives. It is reversible, unlike most glues. Disassembly is done with just water, without the need for complicated procedures like most existing ones. The material is also recyclable and reusable.
