3D-printed COF-graphene composite electrodes

Porous Energy is a technological company dedicated to the use of a patented microfluidic 3D-printing approach applied to covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and graphene, enabling the fabrication of highly porous, lightweight, and fully customizable supercapacitor electrodes. This technology provides precise control over electrode architecture, capacitances of up to 233 F/g, significantly increased energy density, and a 40× weight reduction compared to commercially available electrodes. By overcoming the limitations of conventional carbon- and metal-based electrodes, this result unlocks new pathways for high-efficiency and sustainable energy storage systems.

Applications

The electrodes are particularly relevant for high-performance energy storage applications where lightweight design, fast charge–discharge capability, and high power density are critical. Its primary applications include automotive systems such as regenerative braking, drones and UAVs requiring rapid energy delivery with minimal weight, and industrial power systems that must handle sudden energy peaks efficiently. In addition, the technology is well suited for consumer electronics and other advanced energy systems.
