ReCero is a social impact startup that promotes a new way of managing pharmaceutical waste through technology, incentives, and data. We install smart collection points in pharmacies that identify returned medicines, generate metrics on adherence, consumption, and recycling, and reward responsible patients.
ReCero addresses a critical blind spot in the pharmaceutical system: the lack of visibility and data on what happens to medicines after they are dispensed. In addition, it tackles the challenge of proper pharmaceutical waste recycling by enabling source-separated disposal at the pharmacy level, ensuring safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible management of medicine residues.
ReCero generates positive societal impact by improving how medicines are managed once they leave the healthcare system. By promoting proper, source-separated recycling of pharmaceutical waste, ReCero reduces environmental contamination and supports more sustainable use of healthcare resources. At the same time, the data generated through the recycling process enables better understanding of medicine consumption patterns, adherence, and waste, helping healthcare systems make more informed, evidence-based decisions.
ReCero is seeking €150,000–€250,000 in this round. This funding will be used to finance a real-world pilot with pharmacies, further develop the technological platform, ensure regulatory and operational readiness, and generate the first validated impact and data needed to scale.
