The invention relates to: a crystalline metal-organic material formed by Mg2+ ions which are coordinated with ions of 3,3',5,5'-azobenzene-tetracarboxylic acid (H2ABTC2-) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF); the method for the preparation thereof in solvothermal conditions at autogenous pressure; and the use of the material as a catalyst in a process for converting compounds or for receiving or storing at least one substance for the storage, separation, controlled release or chemical reaction thereof.

La estructura cristalina del material URJC-2(Mg) le permite tener una elevada especificidad y mayor rendimiento en las reacciones químicas, ahorrando pasos en reacciones de química fina. Presenta una elevada estabilidad química y térmica comparado con otros materiales MOF. Fácilmente separable y no emite efluentes contaminantes. Permite ser reutilizado tras ciclos de reacción consecutivos manteniendo inalterada su estructura y su actividad. Presenta una alta afinidad hacia compuestos ácidos como el CO2. Costes competitivos de producción con respecto a otros materiales comerciales.
