A new multiperspective photography camera device which does not suffer from the problems of conventional plenoptic cameras. The new device is designed to provide directly and simultaneously a set of high-resolution images with different perspectives of a 3D scene, along a high field of view. The patent comprises both, a full multiperspective photography camera and a multiperspective objective attachable to any commercial camera body.

Applications: The invention could be applicable in: Surveillance (even in conditions of an environment with fog or smoke); Macroscopic metrology; Security (in scenes with little visibility, as is the case of scenes with smoke); Topography; 3D scanner. From the 3D depth map of nearby scenes, 3D images can be generated for projection on auto-stereoscopic monitors. Advantages: The system has significant advantages over existing ones: •It allows the direct capture of perspectives of macroscopic 3D scenes. •From the perspectives a stack of refocused images is computed. •High-resolution depth maps can be computed. •Real-time application of computational deconvolution tools is easy. •All the above tasks are allowed with dynamic 3D scenes.
