The present invention relates to a novel process for the synthesis of 1- (2,6-difluorophenyl) methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxamide, active principle of rufinamide drug. Said process can be performed by steps or sequentially in a single reaction step, without the need to isolate the intermediates. The process is characterized by the use of mechanochemistry as a source of energy in the synthetic process and alkaline nitrides as a source of ammonia for obtaining the final amide. The process described is fast, respectful of the environment and profitable from the economic point of view.

The process is useful for obtaining rufinamide. The process is carried out by grinding without the need for external heat. Nitrides are used as a solid source of ammonia. This leads to shorter reaction times, safer conditions and greater environmental savings compared to other processes.
