CATHETER INTRODUCTION DEVICE
U201731247
Our team has developed and a three-branch catheter introduction device that allows to generate a closed circuit and introduce a catheter with an occlusive balloon by means of a single puncture, avoiding the need to perform a middle laparotomy, isolation of the aortic artery and its clamping.

-Reduction of asystole time between 3 and 10 minutes (One minute reduction in extraction time is estimated to reduce costs by 42.16 $. Therefore, the use of our device would save to the Health System 841.01 $ per surgical procedure.) -Decreased bleeding during laparotomy. -It avoids the potential complications of introducing the occlusion catheter by percutaneousinsertion or open surgical techniques. -Its protected design allows reducing the volume of blood stored in the branch, which reverts to a lower requirement of the extracorporeal pump circuit. -Easy coupling of the cannula and perfusion system. -Tightness
The invention is protected from an intellectual property point of view and has been verified in trials with animal and human models: 30 effective donors in
controlled and uncontrolled asystole donation. The results showed a reduction in donation time in uncontrolled asystole between 7 and 10 min. It reached 3 min
in controlled asystole, reducing warm ischemia times to seconds in this type of donor.
We have contacted the main KOLs in the field of transplants and these are some of their main conclusions:
-A cannula of this type will succeed by simplifying the process involved.
-Developed by transplantprofessionals: an added value to the device.
-The reduction of donor manipulation to a single puncture is a clear advantage.
-Going from three cannulas to only two simplifies the entire procedure more than significantly.
-One minute reduction in extraction time is estimated to reduce costs by 42.16 $.
-Therefore, the use of our device would save to the Health System 841.01 $ per surgical procedure.
-Easy use will guarantee the success of the device
Proposed Business model:
-The business model for the exploitation by third parties of this development is its license to a medical device company.
... with an additional value contribution:
-for the development of tools for the successful market positioning of the product and customer loyalty.…
- in the development of possible evolutions and new products that allow the improvement of the process of donation in asystole and the success in the transplant and therefore develop joint research and innovation lines
