WO21255319
Structurally simple organic compounds with antitumour activity by acting on mitochondria through various action mechanisms hold substantial promise for development as cancer treatment agents. The present invention relates to new compounds with F-BODIPY structure capable of specific accumulation in mitochondria, of exhibiting photocytotoxicity without the need to involve heavy atoms or other functional residues capable of interacting in biological processes, and with the potential for developing new teragnostic agents for clinical use. Furthermore, it relates to their obtainment process and their application as fluorescent markers of mitochondria, and as photocytotoxic agents for photodynamic therapy (PDT) and phototheragnostics based on mitochondrial accumulation.

ADVANTAGES: New compounds increase the efficiency of theragostic agents based on fluorescence and photocytotoxicity, through its specific accumulation in mitochondria, as well as the marking specific of said organelles, based on a new structural design of easy synthetic access based on BODIPY. APPLICATIONS: - Efficient labeling of mitochondria aimed at improving the study of these organelles using techniques based on fluorescence microscopy, and its implication in the development of certain pathologies (e.g., cancer). - Diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases through fluorescent bioimaging of mitochondria - Precision medicine (diagnosis and therapy) directed at certain diseases, through fluorescent bioimaging and photodynamic therapy, supported by the same agent endowed with high efficiency and low inherent toxicity, due to its effective specific accumulation in mitochondria - Design of new theragnostic agents based on the strategy of enhancing their activity dual by specific accumulation in mitochondria.
