Interface device for telemonitoring of vital signs during patient transport
✓ Patent granted in Colombia: 15283315

Obtaining vital sign information from a critically ill patient before they arrive at the point of care can be a critical tool for diagnosis and treatment planning, and therefore for reducing the risk of death. However, the solutions currently available work with a specific make and model of vital signs monitor. In this sense, the Bioinstrumentation and Clinical Engineering Research Group (GIBIC) of the University of Antioquia developed a device that allows the integration, storage and transmission of biomedical information from any vital signs monitor during the transport and remote care of patients, wirelessly, without altering the safety and quality of the measurements. The device transmits to a monitoring center the biomedical signals and measurements of vital signs monitors, regardless of the brand or model, and has a software platform to host the information in the cloud.
*APPLICATIONS: ✓ Real-time transmission of biomedical signals and measurements of patients being transferred to care centers. ✓ Interoperability solution for vital signs monitoring equipment of different makes and models. *ADVANTAGES-BENEFITS: ✓ Connection with commercial electrocardiography, oxygen saturation and non-invasive blood pressure equipment through adapters, regardless of make or model, and allowing transmission of both signals and measurements. ✓ Does not interfere with patient safety. ✓ Electrical autonomy for more than two hours. ✓ Wireless transmission is via WiFi network. ✓ Information is transmitted to the cloud, from where care center staff can view it through an application. ✓ This monitoring improves patient care by enabling early diagnosis and anticipating treatment before being received at the care center.
