The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a polymeric foam sheet which comprises fully or partially covering at least one surface of a sheet which comprises a polymer capable of being foamed, with a polymeric gas diffusion barrier; foaming the sheet and removing the polymeric gas diffusion barrier from the covered surface of the foamed sheet, and to the sheet obtained by said method.
