The present invention relates to an electrochemical reactor designed for the efficient production of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) by reducing molecular oxygen at a porous cathode and oxidizing water at the anode. The system is based on a compact, split-cell architecture, utilizing a single ion-exchange membrane that enables proton transfer between compartments. The design incorporates several innovations that improve operational efficiency and reduce system complexity, such as the use of water of varying qualities in the anode circuit and the elimination of drive systems in the cathode compartment.

Sustainable Development Goal:
Applications

Electrochemical technology allows for the on-site production of the reagent at the facility where it is required, thus eliminating the need to transport hydrogen peroxide for industrial use. This process also avoids the use of organic solvents. These two advantages drastically reduce the environmental impact of its production. It yields hydrogen peroxide solutions with a higher concentration than currently available technologies. Regarding HPNow technology, it does not require the use of oxygen dosing equipment (compressor), as it uses atmospheric air.
