METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYHYDROXYALKANOATES (PHAS) AND TRIACYLGLYCERIDES (TAGS)
ES2908750B2
Disclosed is a single-unit biotechnology method for simultaneously recovering polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) and triacylglycerides (TAGs). The present invention relates to a method for producing biomass in the form of a mixed microbial culture containing PHAs and TAGs. More specifically, the method comprises certain steps that occur in a single discontinuous sequential reactor.
The authors of the present invention have developed a single-unit biotechnological process for the recovery of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) and triacylglycerides (TAGs) from lipid streams using biomass in the form of mixed microbial cultures (MMCs). In particular, they have designed a procedure that favors the development of a CMM with the capacity for the simultaneous accumulation of PHA and TAG intracellularly, using a simple process that is easy to implement in the industry.
