The present invention relates to a composite material consisting of titanium particles integrated in a silica gel, which has photocatalytic activity. Said novel material creates a self-cleaning effect on rock-type substrates and other porous construction materials. Specifically, said product is able to: (1) give the treated surface the ability to self-clean through simple exposure to sunlight; (2) improve the mechanical surface strength of said surface; and (3) form a cohesive coating that is able to adhere to the treated rock-type substrate.

The product is capable of creating a fracture-free coating that adheres to the stone substrate, providing it with self-cleaning activity. It also has a consolidating effect on the treated rock.
