The present invention relates to training aids for training in the detection of explosives, which comprise triacetone triperoxide (TATP) absorbed as a solid or gas into a solid support comprising a cellulose material, in particular cellulose acetate. Also described are methods for producing the training aids of the invention using acetone, hydrogen peroxide and an acid in a molar ratio, and the use of the training aids to train dogs to detect TATP explosives.
