Furthermore, a system and method for compressing and encrypting an input DICOM cube, and a system and method for decompressing and decrypting an input compressed and encrypted DICOM cube are also provided.

By using the proposed system when managing medical images within a medical data system, a compression and encryption of the medical images may be achieved using the provided encryption and decryption keys. Furthermore, a reduction of data storage and transmission requirements may also be achieved, while increasing data security. This may also allow using medical images in areas such as telemedicine, in a secure and fast way. Furthermore, the proposed system may also allow storing medical images in the cloud in a secure way or performing clinical studies in collaboration between different medical centers (for example, different hospitals).
