Sustainable Development Goal:
Applications

The temperature conditions are moderate and lower than those used in thermal decomposition in the gas phase. Therefore, the procedure has lower energy consumption and minimizes the parallel reactions of thermal decomposition that would be favored at high temperatures. In addition, it does not require vaporization of the NH 3 , since it starts from an aqueous solution of the same. It also allows extending the useful life of the catalysts by carrying out the reaction in liquid phase and at moderate temperatures. The use of NH 3 as a carrier makes it possible to store and transmit energy in a safe and efficient way with a zero carbon footprint. The decomposition system works under temperature conditions that would allow it to be integrated into devices (engines, fuel cells, etc.) that convert H2 into thermal, mechanical or electrical energy.
