CAPTOLAB is an innovative, semi‑automatic laboratory solution designed for the precise quantification of microplastics (MPs) in various aqueous matrices, including the influent, effluent, and sludge found in urban wastewater treatment plants. It enables compliance with urban wastewater monitoring standards, thus aligning with Directive (EU) 2024/3019 of 27 November.
It is based on a gravimetric analytical method, which allows microplastics to be measured in mg/L— a value that is easily comparable and verifiable against potential future contaminant control limits.
Its main advantages are:
- CAPTOLAB enables the quantification of MPs in complex matrices (including sludge), addressing the most common challenges in microplastic monitoring.
- The system complies with CE marking.
- It aligns with the quality‑control requirements for urban wastewater, ensuring that results are valid for regulatory and environmental monitoring purposes.
- It significantly reduces human error and the costs associated with manual MP analysis, increasing the operational efficiency of the contracting entity.
- Ease of use and reliable results.
- It allows a high number of samples to be analyzed in a short time.
