The invention allows for the online determination of microalgal biomass concentration (including cyanobacteria) in cultures within industrial, laboratory, or pilot-scale reactors. It enables the continuous monitoring of biomass concentration in the culture and, consequently, biomass production in the reactor, as well as whether operating conditions are negatively impacting productivity.
