EBO: A Social Robot for Adaptive Cognitive Therapy

EBOv2 is designed to deliver adaptive cognitive stimulation experiences for older adults. It combines emotional interaction, serious games, and real-time adaptation capabilities to enhance motivation, performance, and the therapeutic experience in care settings.

Practically, a prototype like EBOv2 would be used as an adaptive cognitive-therapy assistant in care environments, delivering personalized stimulation sessions and helping staff run and monitor them with less effort. Typical applications:
Cognitive stimulation sessions in nursing homes/day-care centers: guided games and exercises tailored in real time to the person’s performance and mood.
Engagement and motivation support: using social/emotional interaction (voice, expressions, feedback) to reduce drop-off and encourage participation.
Routine therapeutic activities at scale: enabling one therapist to supervise multiple residents while the robot runs structured activities.
Social well-being: facilitating group activities (turn-taking games, quizzes) that also work on communication and social interaction.
