My-UVEC

My-UVEC is a portable, goggle-like imaging device that objectively measures conjunctival ultraviolet autofluorescence (CUVAF), a biomarker of cumulative outdoor UV exposure. By quantifying CUVAF quickly and non-invasively in clinics, schools or optometric settings, My-UVEC enables more accurate assessment of outdoor activity and improved risk stratification for myopia and future visual impairment.

The prototype can be used as a screening and monitoring tool in clinics, schools and optical stores to:
Objectively measure outdoor UV exposure (via CUVAF) in children and young adults.
Identify those at higher risk of myopia or myopic progression, guiding early interventions (more outdoor time, myopia control treatments).
Monitor adherence to lifestyle recommendations in myopia control programs.
In practice, it becomes a quick, non-invasive “outdoor exposure check” that supports personalised myopia prevention and follow-up.
