SOMIA Concept

SOMIA is a point-of-care diagnostic platform that integrates microfluidics, optomechanical sensing and AI-driven analysis and is designed to identify pathogens directly from whole blood within minutes. By measuring single-cell biophysical parameters such as mass, size and optical absorbance, the system provides a functional label-free readout without the need of prior culture. This technology reduces time-to-result to under 30 minutes, compared to the 24–72 hours required for standard blood cultures, enabling earlier targeted antibiotic therapy and ultimately reducing sepsis-related morbidity and mortality.
