Yarnasa – Automatic, Self-Applicable Anti-Choking Medical Device

Yarnasa is a Class IIa medical device in development designed to resolve life-threatening airway obstruction through an automated, self-applicable mechanism. It delivers a controlled, repeatable suction pulse via a sealed ergonomic mask, aiming to help evacuate the obstructing bolus without requiring user strength or complex technique. The project is generating pre-clinical evidence with biomedical engineering and clinical partners, including usability/human factors and objective performance validation, to support CE marking and future clinical evaluation.

Yarnasa is intended for emergency response to choking incidents in both professional and non-professional settings. Its practical application includes use in elderly care facilities, healthcare and socio-sanitary centers, public and private transport, hospitality venues, schools, and private homes, particularly where vulnerable populations are present. The device is designed to be deployed immediately when conventional first-aid techniques are not feasible or effective, enabling rapid, standardized intervention to restore airway patency.
