The present invention relates to novel cationic core-shell polymers comprising a core consisting of a polyurea dendrimer of generation n conjugated to a layer consisting of a cationic olygoethyleneimine polymer with a polymerization degree r, which are synthesized in a sustainable, simple and low-cost manner. In addition to their low toxicity and low hemolysis, these polymers also have an inherent biological activity. These polymers may also be included in formulations. The polymers of the present invention and formulations comprising same can be used in the treatment of infections caused by pathogenic bacteria and fungi and also in the treatment of several kinds of cancer.

Sustainable Development Goal:
Applications

The present invention presents and demonstrates new polymers, synthesized in a sustainable, simple and low cost way, with surprising antibacterial, antifungal and anticancer activity, especially when compared with their neutral form, as well as their non-conjugated form, besides presenting low cytotoxicity and low haemolysis. In addition to their intrinsic biological activity, these polymers when associated with active ingredients or biomolecules are a huge advantage over state-of-the-art systems that have no biological activity on their own.
